Course Description

The Bachelor of Speech Pathology will teach you how to help people who have trouble communicating and/or swallowing.

The course encompasses all aspects of communication including:
speech
writing
reading
signs
symbols and gestures.
Speech pathologists also work with people who have difficulties swallowing food and drink, such as children with a cleft lip and palate.

The course layout over the four years is really good. It allows for adequate theory time and placement. There are a great amount of paediatric units, however there could be more information and detail in the adult units. Positive- small course which lets you get to know everybody, both teachers and class mates

Negative- if you fail a single subjects puts you a year behind. Also - placements at bigger hospitals go to Latrobe and Melbourne Students.

Negative: Being a Catholic university, there are some compulsory subjects not relevant to speech pathology, I think this time would be better spent doing speech pathology subjects.
