It was great for a basic overview of Counselling and a basic rounded experience in the field. They maintained high quality expectations and criteria to help ensure you are genuinely benefiting from the course.
Would have been good to have some further options and better support in securing practical placements to get the optimal experience.
My advice to future students is: Be organised and don’t be afraid to ask for help
Being able to do most of the course from home, which had its pros and it’s cons. Can be hard to be motivated without set classes but means you can work around work. The subjects were pretty set, so not a lot of choices to pick between but they covered what needed to be covered.
My advice to future students is: Don’t give up on yourself. You can learn through mistakes and if the first person you ask for help doesn’t come through there will always be others willing to help
Positives: I loved the passion of the lecturers. It was a study from home course so being able to study in my own time and get great support when needed was really useful. The end of semester on site classes and exams were always fun and extremely helpful.
Negatives: Lecturers often have limited feedback to assignments, making it hard to figure out where you could improve.
My advice to future students is: Be focused and dig in. You learn as much as you are willing to put in and get out of it
