Positives: Firstly, I think the course covers the most important aspects of the corporate world. It is very practical and experimental in its approach. We are given assignments and projects for each of the subjects which help us learn in a practical manner. Also, there is a lot of collaboration with industry experts for academic projects and also through workshops and convocation speeches giving the students a sneak peak into the professional world.
Negatives: Personally, I feel that the course has been organised in a very good manner. However, more professional connections and placement opportunities can be provided for graduating students. Sometimes the course load is too much and therefore I would advise incoming students to plan their schedule accordingly.
My advice to future students is: I would suggest the incoming students to have an open mind. Though you might question the course planning in the beginning you will definitely understand the intricacies and detail that went behind planning the coursework by the end of second semester. Also, make good use of the computing resources and the knowledge that the world renown professors from CMU will share with you.
Positive: the course is a good combination of IT, management, and business
My advice to future students is: get ready to be very busy
Positive: multicultural environment, learn information security from experts, great city
Negative: unnecessary workload
My advice to future students is: Read carefully all of the syllabus
"Positive: Competitive coursework and prestige of institution
My advice to future students is: Know your priorities
Positive: Rigorous program.
Negative: Lack of freedom to choose elective curses, Small staff.
My advice to future students is: To make sure the environment provided by the university fits their demands.
This is a good general program in the area.
The instructors are knowledgable and bring in wide examples.
The university has a good 'brand' globally
My advice to future students is: This course requires you to knuckle down, so be prepared to work hard and keep pushing.
On the positive side, the course is very rigorous and you learn a lot from professors in Adelaide and Pittsburgh.
The negative side is that many courses require too many hours allocated on assignments
My advice to future students is: Live nearby the campus and make sure you are mentally ready for the challenge.
