Positives: Great online options for external studies
Negatives: Some classes aren’t offered internally at all due to low numbers so have to be done externally which not everyone likes to do
My advice to future students is: Be aware some of your studies will have to be done online and not offered in class. Great facilities available on site in the library.
Positives: Postive aspects include working in a group as accounting requires team/group effort to get tasks done, especially when what we learnt are to be applied on the job.
Negatives: Boring, and the teachers' approaches towards teaching
My advice to future students is: Choose a course that you are passionate with
Positives: This course provides flexible learning. The teachers are excellent and provide useful insights into the university and the course easily fits into your lifestyle
Negatives: You have to be motivated to study as an online student. Lecturers are only contactable by email. Picking subjects are difficult to choose and one needs a course liason in order to choose elective subjects.
My advice to future students is: Its important to work with a course liason to understand your course structure. If you keep up to date with your leanring you will success. While the bookshop is excellent the books are expensive. It was easy to locayte textbooks for this course as the subject material stayed the same.
I would recommend anyone to study through Charles Darwin University. I think they are a supportive university.
Charles Darwin University offer a comprehensive and well developed external study platforms. They are always helpful and have a fantastic support team for external students. I wouldn't go with any other university
Positives: Interesting topics/units
Units that are relevant to my local community (e.g. trauma and indigenous based units)
Flexibility of course
Negatives: Lack of lecturer variety. Same lecturer seemed to take a lot of different units
My advice to future students is: Make the course suit you, they are flexible! Take your time, do it at your own pace, at your own comfort, at your own mode.
Ask for help! There is so much support around
- teaches you everything you need to know about university for example how to write a paragraph correctly, how to use words in sentences properly.
- it suits hours of a full time worker
- work all being online because i like things to be hard copy.
My advice to future students is: Be prepared with a study plan and prepared to study and stay focused
Positive: Can study externally ...
Negative: Sometimes delay in responses from lecturers
My advice to future students is: Don’t wait for deadlines
