Positives: friendly people, great uni,
My advice to future students - To really study hard as it's only a few years of your life
Positive the environment and teachers.
Negative is the confusion with assignments sometimes
My advice to future students is: Do the readings
A positive is the entryway into large amounts of experience, the course allowed me to have placement within regional education to allow me to fully comprehend the work i'm learning about.
The negatives however was that I was distanced from the rural community that I grew up in and wished to work in.
My advice to future students is: Follow the areas you love regardless of atar received, there are alternate pathways
Positive - the units are really interesting and as I'm studying teaching there are lots of opportunities for teaching on placement to gain real-life experience in the job
Negative - there is a need for units that are based more on real-life situations that occur on the job like children with special needs
My advice to future students is: Take advantage of the opportunities you get on placement and make the most of that experience because that is where you learn the most
I did this course in Geelong and externally (online). I majored in Mathematics.
The course had really great and useful mathematical content.
My advice to future students is: I thought studying online (at home) was a really good offering and option. External studies require considerable organisation and commitment
Positives: - the friends you make along the way - i have made so many friends for life with the same interests that i have which is great
- placement - all the lives you can impact in such a short amount of time really drives you to want to finish your course
- the flexibility for studying - being able to lower the work load throughout the year and doing intensive units over summer. I studied 3 years full time and i am studying my final year part time over two years so i can work more and study at the same time
Negatives: the way the assignments and units are planned. lots of conflicting information throughout guides and teachers word. different teachers say different things. assignments can be quite difficult and stressful to decipher at times
My advice to future students is: i wish i hadve studied part time the whole time even if it hadve taken longer!
start assignments earlier than you think you need to
