Friendly tight-knit class, relaxed atmospheres in art units, friendly lecturers, fun units (not always in a classroom or lecture room, often in an art room creating and having fun)
Some lectures structure the online aspect completely differently to everyone else which is very confusing and, as a result, off putting. Some units were offered online only
My advice to future students is: Stay on top of your art and journals, always have spare printer ink (you go through a whole carton when printing for journals)
Students are provided with plenty of experience out in the real world at real schools. This is a great way for students to decide if this is the correct career for them.
As for negatives there should be more units teaching students how to teach subjects/curriculum content
My advice to future students is: Ecu is a fantastic uni to get your teaching degree. It offers the most hands on experience and the support is fantastic
Positive- lots of practical experiences
On campus and online study options
Work ready and self learning is a strong emphasis.
Negative- weak area- literacy preparedness-however was a first year intact of a new course, so probably (hopefully) tweaked some what now.
My advice to future students is: Early preparedness. Plan semester out, especially assessment due dates- make a planner. Check rubrics and assessment instructions carefully and start pre-planning early. Take clear notes and ensure you post it note or similar where the information came from eg. author, page number, chapter, resource etc.
The positive aspects of this course was the support. Lecturers and tutors will respond almost immediately and help out. The negative aspect was the pracs. I feel there was not much support
My advice to future students is: Be more then prepared for your pracs in teacher. Almost to be flexible.
The positive aspects of the course is the hands on learning during tutorials as well as many aspects to engage in professional practice to use skills and knowledge learnt. Another positive would be that a lot of the units are very useful not only in learning how to teach but also in developing your own knowledge.
A negative of the course would be that the units for professional practice in year one and two have lectures that lead up to going on practicum, these lectures are useless and all the information can be summed up in a single lecture rather than multiple lectures you have to attend. However in year three and four these lectures and tutorials are useful in preparing for practicum.
My advice to future students is: Not all of your mentor teachers you receive on practicum will be great, so the best thing to do is stick it out because your professional skills are usually better off for it because you have to adapt and think on your feet.
Negatives = exams and the how much the assignments are worth for e.g 60% assignment and 40% exam.
Positive = great lecturers and a good amount of prac
My advice to future students is: Study study study
I thought the course was excellent. Overall, I got a lot of support from lecturers and the Tutors. I thought the it was a great experience working along side other people pursuing there passion.
My advice to future students is: Do the Uni Prep course as it allows you to be prepared for Uni.
Positives - Great professors, really interesting subjects in the course.
My advice to future students is: Stay focussed and enjoy your study time
Positive: Great course, very useful content and lecturers were great too.
Negative: very hard
My advice to future students is: to work really hard at home and start from the begining
Positives - Great lecturer, nice environment to study.
Negatives - Too big, easy to get lost
My advice to future students is: Keep focus on your objective
