Course Description

Being able to communicate with others is a fundamental human pursuit. Speech, hearing and language professionals have the privilege of bringing that gift to the community whether that be through helping someone hear for the first time, assisting a stroke patient to speak again, or investigating how children acquire language.

This course will prepare you for further study towards a career in a number of professions, including clinical work or research in audiology and speech language pathology, forensic speech science, the development of associated speech and hearing technologies, or teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). It will also provide you with a strong background in linguistics (human language) that can take you into careers such as journalism, marketing, education or management.

Positives: the tutorials are engaging with good well knowing teachers to always answer your questions
The course content is fairly relative to what you want to be learning and it is set out well to go week by week

Negatives: I suppose there could be more time given for quizzes and assignments and it should be more online...

Positive - really good lecturers and tutors, thorough content
Negative - at Macquarie (for speech pathology) you have to do 3 year undergrad and then qualify for 2 year masters, whereas at other unis (such as ACU, USyd, UON) you can do a 4 year undergrad and graduate with Honors so you are qualified when you graduate
