Course Description

The Certificate III in Community Services is ideal for support workers, case workers and client contact officers and generally, positions with direct contact with clients, identify presenting needs and refer to appropriate services and support. These support workers and case workers may provide day-to-day support in community settings and/or provide assistance with entitlements and benefits under the broad direction of others.

This course will train you with interpersonal skills to work in residential and community settings with clients, identify their needs and plan and develop appropriate services to meet those needs. You'll gain an insight into the community services sector including mental health, alcohol and other drug services and domestic violence services and learn about the ethical and legal responsibilities of community workers.

This course provides a pathway into Certificate IV in Community Services, Certificate IV in Mental Health or Certificate IV in Youth Work.

All of our Community Service qualifications have flexible training delivery modes and the option to study on the job. This means you get the most relevant skills and the opportunity to form industry contacts.

You'll also be mentored by attentive and caring lecturers who have extensive experience in the industry. There is an ongoing skill shortage in this industry so employment prospects are high.

Positives: Very good lecturers and a good course for learning the basics. Also paced well for people who haven’t studied recently.

Negatives: I didn’t have any negative aspects.

My advice to future students is: Make sure you attend as many classes as possible because you do miss important things when not in class.
