Course Description

Study a teaching degree that qualifies you as a generalist primary teacher, and gives you the flexibility to also teach in two specialised subject areas up to year 10.

You will learn from academics who are leaders in their field, studying a curriculum that is informed by our above world-class research in education1. Hands-on learning is a key focus and as part of this degree's practical component you will work full-time in rural and metropolitan schools. This will equip you with the practical skills and confidence required as you transition into the workplace.

This degree is industry-relevant, practical and versatile. A unique blend of primary and middle makes this the only degree of its type in South Australia, qualifying you to teach up to year 10.

The curriculum is informed by our world-class research, and you will complete specialist courses that will focus on your particular areas of interest. The practical component begins in the first six months, giving you the opportunity early on to experience exactly what the job is all about.

Overseas professional experience is also available to interested students, you'll have the opportunity to complete up to 20 days of professional experience as part of an overseas placement.

I thought the course was delivered well and the lecturers and tutes were engaging - although it was a bit more theoretical than I was hoping.

There was a lot of theory based work which didn’t give us a lot of practical work/experience!
