Course Description

This pre-service course is intended to prepare psychology graduates for employment as school psychologists within the government and non-government sectors. The course will expose students to a range of relevant theories, processes and practices appropriate for the provision of psychological services to schools, teachers and students. This course introduces students to psychological and educational assessment, counselling, and clinical issues that address an understanding of many childhood disorders and difficulties. At the conclusion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate competency in psychological assessment, counselling and behaviour management as well as understanding the management options for clinical issues.

This pre-service course is intended to prepare psychology graduates for employment as school psychologists within the government and non-government sectors.

Additional Information
After a few years in the workplace, teachers may wish to undertake further studies and could return to study a research degree.

Positives: Get real life experience on pracs and the content is all so relevant to the job we will do at the end, teachers are really helpful and have so much experience to share

Negatives: Some assignments are a bit vague. Classes are spread out over week so some days only there for an hour
